Jeju Festival Band has been found since April, 1999 and renamed as Jeju Wind Orchestra in Feb., 2005. The reason of changing its name is willing to reveal a progressive spirit and enthusiastic will of Jeju band musicians to the world. Jeju Wind Orchestra was formed in April, 1999 for the special performance in the name of "Works of Greatest Composers" This concert was a new event of the Jeju Wind Orchestra since it has been held 1995 That time Alfred Reed, US, was chosen and invited as the first "Greatest Composer", who has been showing us lots of outstanding works. It also joined the 11th Asia ＆ Pacific Band Directors Association Conference held in Chiai, Taiwan and 12th APBDA in Gwangzhou, China as a delegate band of Korea. During its activity, it was required to become a standing orchestra that could involve in Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival which is held in August every year as an important role. Finally, in February 2003 was formed again, and had a debut concert on May 16, 2003. After its re-formation, the orchestra has performed at home and abroad including concert at Seoul Arts Center, under the tile "Jeju Summer Band Festival in Seoul", the 13th APBDA in Jeju, 15th APBDA in Taiwan. Especially, the Orchestra has invited the world-renowned composers including Dr. Frank Ticheli, Jacob de Han, Jan Van der Roost, Manfred Schnider to perform their best works. The Orchestra, also, has focused on promoting Jeju Island, by performing the folksongs with re-arranged version for the wind orchestra. All members are professional musicians and belong to Jeju Philhmarmonic Orchestra and Seogwipo Municipal Band, respectively. Whenever Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival opens, they have been not only the players but also the staff with doing their best.
