Our Journeyhistory

The Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival is one of Korea's leading music festivals and a globally recognized festival dedicated to wind music. Since its launch in 1995 as a biennial event, the Festival has steadily built its international standing—most notably through the establishment of the Competition in 2000 and its membership in the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) under UNESCO. From Jeju, the "Island of Peace," we have continued to connect with the world through the golden resonance of brass and the vibrant spirit of wind music. Our journey continues.

2015Additional WFIMC recognition granted to the Percussion Division of the Jeju International Wind Music Competition

2014The 18th Asia Pacific Band Festival

2012Integrated operation of the biennial Festival programs (Band Festival and Ensemble Festival) with the International Wind Music Competition
Addition of the Percussion Division (total 8 divisions, held in rotation: 4 divisions each cycle)

2009Joined the WFIMC (World Federation of International Music Competitions) under UNESCO

2007The 12th Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival & The 5th Jeju International Wind Music Competition
(Co-hosted with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province)

2006The 10th World Association of Marching Show Bands Championships (WAMSB) – Jeju Event

2004The 13th Asia Pacific Band Festival

2000The 1st Jeju International Wind Music Competition (7 divisions)

1999The 3rd Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival (Co-hosted with Jeju City)
