Jeju Union Ocarina Ensemble is a music group based in Jeju that specializes in performing with the ocarina, a clay wind instrument. The ensemble plays a wide range of genres including classical, pop, Korean popular songs, and traditional Jeju folk music. In 2016, 30 members of the group collaborated in a performance of Jeju Fantasy by Yang Bang-ean, and since then, they have continued to hold annual concerts and remain active in the local music scene.
Conductor Lee Jung Soon
Conductor Lee Jung Soon began playing the clarinet in the fourth grade and later earned a Master’s degree in Music Therapy and Education from the Graduate School of Korean Music at Chung-Ang University. With over 20 years of orchestral experience, she began crafting ocarinas in 2002 and registered the trademark “Heukpiri” in 2005. In 2012, she published an ocarina method book, and in 2015, she released the album Heukpiri Ocarina Performance Collection. She currently serves as an advisor to the Jeju International Ocarina Association and as director of the Jeju Union Ocarina Ensemble.
