Founded in April 2002, Gyeong-buk Wind Ensemble is a purely amateur group that has been actively performing for over 23 years. As an ensemble always open to all, it welcomes anyone with a passion for wind music. The ensemble has participated in the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival three times—in 2007, 2009, and 2023. Notably, it was invited to perform at the 2nd Korea International Wind Band Festival held at the Seoul Arts Center in 2011. Gyeong-buk Wind Ensemble holds an annual regular concert and has performed in over 85 concerts of various scales to date, sharing the unique and beautiful sounds of wind music with a wide audience.
Conductor Kim Han Soo graduated from the Department of Music Education at Jeju National University. He has previously served as a member of the Jeju City Wind Ensemble, Tamna Wind Orchestra, and Jeju City Symphony Orchestra. He also served as Vice Director of the Gyeongbuk branch of the Korean Band Association. Kim conducted at the 30th and 32nd Korea Wind Band Festivals held in Yeosu and Yangsan, respectively. He also led performances at the 12th and 14th Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festivals (2007, 2009), and conducted an invited performance at the 2nd Korea International Wind Band Festival held at the Seoul Arts Center in 2011. Among his major works, he conducted Schubert's Mass in G Major with the Pohang Art Chamber Orchestra and Honors Choir. He completed his graduate studies in Choral Conducting at Daegu Catholic University. In 2011, he was honored with the Korea Wind Music Leadership Award. In 2012, he conducted a combined student orchestra performance at the National Student Orchestra Festival at KBS Hall in Yeouido, featuring a collaboration with Kim Duk Soo’s Samulnori ensemble.
