Founded in 1907, Jeju High School is the oldest secondary school in Jeju, boasting a proud 118-year history and tradition. As a cornerstone of secondary education in the region, it has produced over 20,000 alumni who are active in various fields of society. Guided by the core values of Sincerity, Assiduity, and Creativity, the school aims to foster glocal talents with integrity and creativity. The Jeju High School Wind Orchestra, established in 1978, is a student-led ensemble currently composed of 46 enrolled students. The orchestra actively rehearses during lunch breaks and after school, striving to create beautiful sounds that blend harmoniously. Their ultimate goal is to deliver performances that bring personal fulfillment to each performer.
Conductor Choi Jaekwang
Conductor Choi Jaekwang holds a master’s degree in music education from Jeju National University and has dedicated himself to the advancement of music education in Jeju. As a vocalist, he has performed with ensembles such as the Jeju Seogwipo Wind Orchestra, Jeju Chamber Orchestra, and Jeju Brass Ensemble, and has appeared in numerous operas and planned performances. He has also performed as a member of the Jeju Concert Choir and the Busan Handbell Choir, and participated in various recording projects as a bass guitarist and synthesizer player, showcasing his wide-ranging musical versatility. He is currently teaching at Jeju High School, where he actively contributes to student-centered music education in the school setting.
