Wooami Saxophone Ensemble was named with the meaning of “living old age gracefully and beautifully.” Formed with the purpose of contributing to society through meaningful musical activities in the second chapter of life, the group seeks to enrich their later years through performance while preparing for a fulfilling centenarian life. Its members, with an average age of 72, include retired teachers and former business owners who have cultivated their instrumental skills and continuously share their talents through performances at social welfare facilities and in culturally underserved communities.
Conductor Kim Jae Bum
Conductor Kim Jae Bum studied classical saxophone at Anyang Arts High School, Sangmyung University, and applied music with a saxophone major at Dankook University. His career includes serving as a saxophone instructor at the Anyang and Osan Lifelong Education Centers, and performing as a member of the police band at the Bupyeong Police General School. He has also taught at Thirteen Practical Music Academy and conducted several music clubs, including the All That Jazz Saxophone Club. Currently, he leads ensemble classes at Wollang Elementary School and is actively involved in music through Jeju Music Mentoring Center, Jeju Music Friends, and Amadeus Performance Someche.
