Jeju National University Wind Symphony, composed of wind instrument majors, was founded following the establishment of the Department of Music Education in the College of Education in 1981 (later reorganized as the Department of Music in the College of Humanities in 1987, the School of Arts in 2009, and the Department of Music in the College of Art and Design in 2012). Since its first regular concert in 1987, the ensemble has maintained consistent performance activity. Under the direction of Professor Heo Dae-sik since 2004, the Wind Symphony has focused on strengthening its performance quality through a wide range of concerts such as annual regular concerts, chamber music nights, and participation in major events including the Korea International Wind Band Festival, Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival, and Jeju Wind Festival. The ensemble has also participated in the Asia Pacific Band Festival in 2004 and the National University Wind Orchestra Autumn Festival in 2006, 2007, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, and 2019, further enhancing its dedication to authentic wind ensemble repertoire.
