A winner of the S&R Foundation Washington Award and Astral Artists National Auditions, trombonist Brittany Lasch is known for her authenticity, musical versatility, and dedication to advancing the trombone as a powerful solo instrument. She is Assistant Professor of Trombone at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and maintains a vibrant career as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator. Praised as a “masterful” player (Syracuse Post-Standard) and an “excellent soloist” (American Record Guide), Brittany has appeared with ensembles including the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass, the Queens Symphony, and the National Repertory Orchestra. She is an active commissioner of new works and has premiered pieces by Reena Esmail, Martin Kennedy, Adrian B. Sims, and others. Her debut solo album Dark Horse, with pianist and composer Thomas Weaver, features music by Samuel Adler, Tony Plog, and more. Former Principal Trombone of the Detroit Opera Orchestra, she has performed with leading orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and St. Louis Symphony. Festival appearances include the Verbier Festival, Pacific Music Festival, Spoleto USA, and international events in Argentina, Japan, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. Brittany earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University and a Master of Music from the Yale School of Music. Committed to education, she has held faculty roles at Bowling Green State University and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and has presented masterclasses across the U.S. and abroad.
