Inspired by the grand spirit of King Gwanggaeto the Great of Goguryeo, who dreamed of continental expansion, Gwanggaeto Jeju Traditional Arts Troupe is a professional traditional Korean ensemble designated by Jeju Province. Formed by certified instructors and master performers of Honam Udo Nongak, a National Intangible Cultural Heritage (No. 7-3), the group is dedicated to promoting Korea’s traditional performing arts as globally recognized cultural content. They have performed in collaborations with world-renowned artists such as Na Hoon-a, Park Ae-ri, Song So-hee, Kim Kyung-ho, and BTS, earning international acclaim and receiving the Korean Wave Culture Award from the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea. Actively introducing the richness of Jeju's cultural heritage to the world, the group has been spotlighted at major Korean festivals in Dallas and Washington in 2024 and is set to lead a nationwide tour in 2025 with the traditional play “Onggojipjeon.” Through these efforts, they continue to share and celebrate the excellence and diversity of Jeju’s traditional performing arts on the global stage.
