Sinan Elementary School Wind Orchestra, based in Sinan-myeon, Sancheong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, is comprised of 59 enthusiastic members out of the school’s 149 students, all passionately dedicated to their orchestral activities. Founded in 2002, the orchestra boasts a proud 23-year history and has received top honors, including the Grand Prize and First Prize at national wind band competitions. In addition to cultivating each student’s artistic sensibility and musical talent, the Sinan Wind Orchestra actively contributes to the local community by regularly hosting concerts such as seasonal performances, teacher appreciation concerts, and volunteer recitals. With strong support from local organizations—including the Sancheong County Scholarship Foundation and the Korea Water Resources Corporation (Namgang Dam Education Program)—the orchestra has continued to grow steadily. Today, the Sinan Wind Orchestra is recognized as a leading force in arts education in the region and continues to pursue excellence with unwavering dedication.
Conductor Choi Sang-ho
Conductor Choi Sang-ho studied music education at the Department of Music at Changwon National University and the Graduate School of Education at Gyeongsang National University. He has performed as a trumpet player with both the Jinju Philharmonic Orchestra and the Jinju Wind Ensemble, appearing as a soloist with each. Since 2005, he has served as the conductor of the Sinan Elementary School Wind Orchestra. Currently, he also conducts the Sinan Wind Orchestra and the Sancheong Youth Wind Ensemble, where he continues to guide young musicians and is widely recognized for his leadership and musical expertise.
