포토
Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Jeju Chorus, which embodies the beauty of nature through music, was founded in 1985 and has established itself as one of Korea’s leading professional choirs through a diverse repertoire and programming that spans Renaissance, classical, and contemporary music. The chorus has performed over 1,000 concerts, including regular concerts, special programs, and touring performances, and in 1999 produced and staged Korea’s first original creative musical, “Jacheongbi,” as well as the opera “Cavalleria Rusticana.” In 2003, it produced and performed Korea’s first creative opera jointly created by local governments, “Baeknokdam,” and in the same year participated in the “LA Korean Immigration Centennial Festival,” bringing the moving power of choral music to both Jeju residents and audiences worldwide and receiving enthusiastic acclaim. The chorus strives to create a popular choral culture in which all citizens can participate, while also pursuing a professional choral art that expresses the full charm of choral music on stage, dedicating itself to ensuring that the people of Jeju feel happiness within music and art harmonized with the island’s beautiful nature, and working to become a driving force for a better tomorrow and a more meaningful, happy life.
