Daejin Middle School Wind Orchestra, founded in 2009, has consistently earned top honors at national wind ensemble competitions each year. The ensemble has hosted and participated in master classes with prominent musicians, including an invitational session led by the president of the Asia-Pacific Band Directors Association in 2013, an ensemble master class with the principal horn player of the Daegu Philharmonic Orchestra, and an orchestra workshop with the principal conductor of the Seoul Wind Orchestra. These exchanges and collaborations with renowned domestic and international musicians have enabled the orchestra to deliver moving and impactful performances for its audiences. In 2019, the ensemble was invited as the representative middle school orchestra to perform at the prestigious “World Orchestra Series” held at the Daegu Concert House. Through busking concerts, invited performances, and regular concerts, the orchestra continues to strive for excellence and aims to present refined and inspiring musical experiences.

Conductor Hwang Young Wook
Conductor Hwang Young Wook graduated from a college of music and completed a specialized wind conducting program at the university level. He also earned a master’s degree in conducting. He served as the founding conductor of the Ministry of National Defense Symphony Orchestra, leading performances on a U.S. tour that included Royce Hall at UCLA and other major cities across the country. As Chief of Military Bands at the Ministry of National Defense, he conducted national tours in cities including Istanbul, Türkiye. He has also led performances at major venues such as the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, KBS Hall in Seoul, and Daegu Concert House, among others. Currently, he is a music teacher and the conductor of the Mirsaem Wind Orchestra at Daejin Middle School in Daegu. He is committed to creating elevated and moving performances through various concert activities such as busking concerts and regular annual concerts with the student musicians who represent the next generation of artists.
