Once again, Jeju’s island and winds are imbued with the resounding voice of wind music.
Once again, Jeju’s island and winds are imbued with the resounding voice of wind music.
The 30th Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival - Summer Season begins under the theme, “Island, Wind, and the 30th Resonance,” opening the doors to yet another vibrant summer.
For the past 30 years, the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival has echoed across the island in harmony with wind musicians from around the world. On this island where the wind lingers, the melodies of wind instruments have transcended borders to connect hearts, and crossed generations to deliver deep emotion. This year, we hope that resonance will spread even farther and deeper than ever before.
As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, we remember the sorrows of the past and sing of the hopes of the future through music. The powerful breath of wind music reminds us all of the value of freedom and the beauty of peace.
To everyone who joins us, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. May the 30th resonance of wind, carried on Jeju’s breeze, remain with you for a long time to come.
Thank you.
Chairman of JIWEF Organizing Committee Yang Seung Bo

Dear music lovers and festival guests,
It is my great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of you who have come to Jeju to participate in the 30th Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival - Summer Season.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Chairman Yang Seungbo and all members of the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival Organizing Committee for their unwavering efforts in making this globally cherished festival possible.
Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival has grown into one of Korea’s leading international cultural events, serving as a vibrant window where Jeju meets the world and where music connects hearts beyond borders and languages.
Following the success of the spring season, this summer´s festival will unfold under the theme "Island, the Resonance of Wind," bringing together the emotional depth of Jeju and the dynamic voice of wind music in harmony.
Music transcends time, connects people, and opens hearts. The Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival plays a vital role as a gateway for young artists and as a shared space of harmony and generosity for both local residents and visitors. The Jeju Provincial Government remains fully committed to supporting this festival so that it may continue to thrive as a leading cultural brand that represents Jeju on the global stage. We will continue to work together to ensure that the sound of wind instruments resonates not only as music but as a vibration of empathy that unites communities, generations, and nations.
In this vibrant season of summer, I hope the dreams and resonance of your artistry will echo far and wide from the island of Jeju, where wind and melody intertwine.
Thank you.
Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province
Hello, my name is Jens Lindemann and I am most honored to be the Artistic Director of the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival especially as it celebrates its 30th season this year.
Having served as both a guest artist and adjudicator for the festival, I truly appreciate the significance of this position. The JIWEF has been admired for decades now by musicians and educators from around the globe. The hopes and dreams of many young players begin with the very idea of simply traveling to Korea and for many of them it is the very first time. This alone is a life changing experience for all who choose to attend whether it is to compete or just enjoy the incredible variety of music and the sights on Jeju Island.
This year we have a record number of applicants in all categories of the competition and that is an exciting sign that what the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival is doing makes a huge difference and is respected around the planet. Many other festivals around the world watch carefully what is done here and try to emulate the great success and tradition of this festival.
I have traveled to Korea numerous times for concerts and masterclasses and have developed a great love for the country as well as it’s passionate people. Presiding over this internationally renowned festival is not only a privilege, it is humbling.
As a young artist, my entire life revolved around music festivals and doing over 40 solo competitions...everything from local, regional, national and international and learned so many things about music and myself. Most importantly, I was able to meet and hear other brass players from around the world and that was the true lasting experience. The excitement of being around other students my age who were from completely different countries and cultures and hearing how great they were allowed me to start dreaming of what I might be able to accomplish myself . Many of those same students are now lifelong friends and colleagues and we have a tremendous amount of respect for one another.
I am humbled to be an international ambassador for Jeju. I also assure you that I will do everything possible to celebrate and advance the proud legacy of this esteemed festival which will allow the next generation of young artists to come to Korea and leave as global citizens who will never forget being in this very special place experiencing this extraordinary festival. Looking forward to seeing all of you here in Jeju!
