Hello. My name is Jens Lindemann, and it is a great honor to serve as the Artistic Director of the 31st Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival 2026.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of participating in this Festival as both a performer and a juror, and through those experiences I have come to deeply appreciate its significance. For decades, the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival has earned tremendous respect and affection from musicians and educators around the world. For many young performers, simply visiting Korea is itself a dream and a source of hope - and for some, it becomes their very first opportunity to travel abroad. Whether they come to Jeju to compete, or to enjoy the music alongside the island's breathtaking scenery, I believe this Festival will be a precious, life-changing experience and an unforgettable turning point.
I have visited Korea many times to present concerts and masterclasses, and through those experiences I have developed a deep affection for this country and for the passion of the Korean people. To lead a Festival of such international stature is both a great honor and a humbling responsibility.
Throughout my youth, I took part in music festivals and in more than forty solo competitions, learning a great deal about music and about myself on stages ranging from local events to national and international competitions. Above all, meeting brass players from around the world and hearing them perform was the most valuable experience of all. Spending time with peers from different countries and cultures, and hearing firsthand how excellent they were, inspired me to dream even bigger. Many of the musicians I met during those years have become lifelong friends and colleagues, and we hold great respect for one another.
I am deeply honored to serve as an international ambassador for the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival. I also promise to do my utmost to carry forward and further develop the proud tradition of this wonderful Festival. Through this, I hope that the next generation of young artists will visit Korea, experience this Festival in this special place, and return home having grown as global citizens.
