This year, the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival proudly celebrates its 31st Summer Season under the theme, "The Island, Echoing with the Sound of the Wind." Once again, the beautiful melodies of wind music will fill Jeju, the Island of Peace, where the vibrant energy of summer comes alive.
In Jeju, where the wind transforms into music, wind music is far more than a collection of beautiful sounds. It offers comfort to those weary from the demands of everyday life and serves as a universal language that transcends borders, bringing our hearts together as one.
This year's festival presents an extraordinary lineup featuring the world-renowned Battle Creek Brass Band, distinguished wind ensembles with rich traditions from around the globe, and internationally acclaimed performers. The festival will also showcase diverse performances by amateur musicians who embrace wind music as a form of community arts, as well as youth wind ensembles that embody the values of harmony, respect, and consideration through music.
Adding even greater significance to this year's celebration, the Jeju International Wind & Percussion Competition, recognized as one of the world's premier gateways for emerging young musicians, will once again be held alongside the festival, providing an inspiring stage for the next generation of wind music artists.
I sincerely hope that your time in Jeju's breathtaking natural surroundings will become a meaningful journey of understanding one another through music and celebrating the spirit of peace. May the hope, joy, and inspiration conveyed through wind music remain with you long after the festival has come to an end.
